My Morning Routine For Success

I always get questions on how I manage to run a business, ministry and family without losing my mind. Well let me tell you, I’ve been close to losing it a few times. BUT GOD! No seriously, God created a woman. We are amazingly strong. He gave us a special grace for capacity when it’s required.

Here’s what my mornings look like.

1. You can’t achieve much in bed. GET UP!

My day starts at 4:30am. Waking up early has been proven to improve your quality of sleep. By setting a proper sleep routine, it sets your ‘body clock’ and makes it easier for you to sleep and wake naturally.

Waking up early also improves my mental health. I find that how I spend that first hour often sets the tone for the rest of my day. By waking up early, I have plenty of time to do other things which reduces stress by eliminating the need to rush in the morning. As you start to do this, you will notice a change in your attitude. Happier Life, Happier Home.

2. Spend time with the master of my life, Jesus Christ

Whether I am at home or away, I MUST do this. The fulfilment alone! Spending time with him fulfils my heart like nothing else can. I feel like I can handle anything that comes my way because I’ve been fulfilled and empowered by the master of it all.

I get direction. As an entrepreneur, I need all the help I can get. There’s nothing like receiving a solution for a ‘problematic client’ as soon as I get on my knees or having a ‘light bulb’ moment of an idea that will change the direction of my business.

My success is founded on this truth.



3. Head into my home office.

Feeling inspired and encouraged, I head to the office and get a good 2.5hours work done before the rest of the house gets up and the noise begins. No distractions, hence more productivity. Honestly, I get more done in these 2.5hours than I do after 3pm when the boys get home from school.

4. Gym session

When I’m being good, I’ll squeeze a gym session in there. To be honest, I don’t do this every single day but hey, we all start somewhere. Thing is when I do get a session in, I feel so energised and ready for the day. It must be that release of hormones… Here, Elizabeth Narins gives us a few benefits of working out in the morning. Glowing skin? YES PLEASE!


Once everyone is sorted and off to school, I head back into the office and bash out another 4 hours or so. Then the boys get back, and the mummy brain kicks in. My evening/night work/life balance routine is also critical but I’ll share that next time.
